Grillitsch: “We responded well”

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig:

Florian Grillitsch: “We responded well, played some really good football at times and certainly deserved the point over the 90 minutes. We took a slightly different approach and positioned ourselves a little deeper to limit the space behind the back line so that Leipzig couldn't get up to speed. We did well for the most part. For me, it was one of the better performances of the season. Now it's about not having a bad game. We now have one more point in the bag. There are two games left, and we want to get everything out of them, and then we'll see what comes out of it in the end.”

Andrej Kramarić: “We played against one of the best teams in the league. The point is very important for us. We have to go full throttle, get three points in Darmstadt and then we can make it into Europe. We've often played well and then played badly a week later. Today was nice, today was great. I had a good feeling throughout the game. But we have to keep our feet on the ground, because it's not enough to be good two or three times – we have to show it all the time.”

Pellegrino Matarazzo: “We earned a well-deserved point. The team rightly came in for a lot of criticism after the Bochum game. We wanted to show that we are serious about our targets. The lads did a lot of the things we had planned. Everyone defended with absolute determination and we had some lovely moves going forward. They showed a very good mentality over the 90 minutes. If we want to achieve our goals, we have to keep putting in performances like that in the last two games. Of course, three points would have been even better, but the point can be very important.”

Marco Rose (RB Leipzig coach): “It's a fair result over 90 minutes, even if we would have liked to have taken the win as we were in the lead for a long time. We let a few situations slip in the first half. Overall, though, we didn’t offer them many chances and defended well. Hoffenheim came out well in the second half and had a good chance straight away. Overall, we didn't have enough control and weren't good enough on the ball. The sending off didn't help us, of course. We wanted to defend passionately to the end and we were close. When they equalised, we were very outnumbered in the box. We've played better games, to be honest.”
